Home movies can take up a ton of hard drive space and they might be beyond a regular CD's capacity, but a DVD can hold them and generally a lot more.

Many times manufacturers of DVD burners will include software with the purchase, but there are other more advanced programs available for moviemakers, professional or otherwise.
A DVD burner can be a real advantage over a regular CD creator. Since DVDs can hold so much more information, storing movies, files and photographs on a single disk will be easier. It will also be easier to share those files with other.
